I had a very urgent personal message this morning on LinkedIn. The sender is in China and asked if his prices were too high. Here’s my reply.  Comments? His note is below my answer.

Haiqing,

I want to talk with you at greater length, but a later time. Your prices target a mid to large size company. With your prices you need to prospect only mid to large US companies. Companies will always look at your experience and their return on your writing. More and more US businesses are utilizing at odesk.com.

Food for thought: There are a more small businesses in the US than there are medium medium to large. If you can adjust your prices for small businesses, you have a larger audience, get more customers and have a better long term cash flow.

Have a great day,

Mike.

I am providing contents from Chinese sources to the English speaking publications. I got calls asking for the price, but when I offered them my price, they have never come back to me again.

My offer was US$ 200 per article (about 1000 words), US$ 1500.00 per month (for 12 articles) or US$ 2000.00 per month (20 articles). I wonder am I asking too much? then tell me how much would it be reasonable as I spend a lot of time on the research of the agreed topics and form an attractive article to enrich the publication.

I believe the Chinese world has become more and more influential and powerful that deserve reporting and observation so that we can understand more about this part of society and this group of people as part of the integrated civilization progresses.

And my insight has been proven valuable and have good feedback. It is a pity for some publications that overlooked this part of business. Let me know your thought.

Thank you.
Kind Regards,
